Writers’ Workshop students will mentor high school students in two ten-week semesters.

Shoedog Travels to the Iowa Heartland, $5,000
Bloom’s play, Shoedog, will be performed around Iowa by the Actors’ Studio.

Stories will be collected from senior centers and then used as inspiration for art to be displayed in the spring.

UI Center for the Book affiliates will go into public libraries and teach workshops on calligraphy, bookbinding, papermaking, etc.

Chinese Brush Painting Across Iowa, $5,000
Guiyuan Liang, a noted Chinese brush painter, will visit Iowa for demonstrations, workshops, and exhibitions in conjunction with several larger events including Asian Heritage Month.
